NIEHS' New Orleans Brownfields Minority Worker Training Program Completes 3rd Year

niehs_brownfields_minorityThe third year under the cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences  (NIEHS) will end August 31st. Under that agreement, Xavier University conducts worker-training programs in New Orleans, Atlanta, Baton Rouge and Shreveport in partnership with Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta), Southern University in Baton Rouge and Southern University in Shreveport.

The Greater New Orleans Brownfields Minority Worker Training Program (NOB3) graduated 16 young men April 23rd. Most of them received certification in General Construction from the Carpenter’s Apprenticeship and Training Program, Hazardous Waste Worker from Delgado Fire School, and Lead and Asbestos Abatement and Underground Storage Tank Removal from the Laborers-AGC Education and Training Fund (Livonia, LA).
