HBCU Environmental Justice & Climate Corps Internship
The Deep South Center for Environmental Justice (DSCEJ) is now accepting applications for the HBCU Environmental Justice and Climate Corps Internship.
Five interns representing five Gulf Coast cities will immerse themselves in a hands-on research-to-action project working with a partner community-based organization disproportionately impacted by environmental hazards and climate change.
The five Gulf Coast cities are New Orleans, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, Gulfport, MS, Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL.
Compensation $3,000
ABOUT
The intern will conduct research in one of the following areas:
- Environmental Justice
- Climate Change
- Food Security
- Environmental Health Disparities
- Environmental Policy
APPLICATION PROCESS
Qualifications
- Have a passionate interest in environmental justice and climate change advocacy.
- Attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
- Rising undergraduate Junior or above; Graduate Student
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and take initiative, assist others and resolve problems
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Must be able to attend internship in-person
- Have a passionate interest in environmental justice and climate change advocacy.
- Attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
- Rising undergraduate Junior or above; Graduate Student
May 3, 2024: Application Deadline
June 10, 2024: Internship Begins
Aug. 9, 2024: Last Day of Summer Internship
March 8, 2025: Presentation at HBCU Climate Conference
